Having waited so long, the County Council has, at last, come up with a design for a traffic calming scheme in the High Street.  The proposed layout can be viewed by clicking on the enclosed link.

The Parish Council is happy to support this scheme which comprises –

  • A build out feature with reflective post at The Offords end of the High Street;
  • Two areas of red surfacing close to the bus stop and The Bell.

The build out feature will require drivers to give ‘Priority Over Oncoming Vehicles’.

For safety reasons, the County Council will not permit a second build out feature at the St Neots end of the High Street.  Instead, the Parish Council will ask for a MVAS (a post mounted sign that flashes the actual speed of an approaching vehicle as these have been successful elsewhere).

The Parish Council would be interested to hear your thoughts on the proposed design.   Please email the clerk@greatpaxton-pc.gov.uk or write your comments on this sheet and return it to the Community Shop from where it will be collected.

THANK YOU
